Antique French Silver Salt Spoons By Léonard Chatenet

Delicate Antique French Silver Salt Spoons By Maitre Orfèvre Léonard CHATENET.

During the later part of the 18th century and the early part of the 19th Century Spoon making was an art of its own.
Hence the Maitre Orfèvre who dealt in it was called a Maitre Cuilleriste or Master Spoon Maker.

The style of the spoons is still perfectly in harmony with the style used in the 18th century. They are ‘Vermeille’ or coated with 18 carat gold to better resist the salt’s tarnish.

The Hallmark is 2ieme Coq,1st title (950/1000) for Paris 1809 – 1819

The Makers Mark is for Leonard CHATENET who registered his mark the first time around in 1807.
His workshop was located first 6 rue St Anne, then 10 Cour de Harlay.
