Elegant Antique French Gilt Silver Ice Cream Set By R Linzeler

Elegant and beautiful Antique French Gilded Silver or Vermeil 14 piece Ice Cream Flatware service by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Robert Linzeler.

The set is decorated in the very pure Louis XV style with a simple floral scroll at the bottom of the handles.
The style is very simple but extremely elegant, in the superb craftsmanship Robert Linzeler was known for!
There are 12 spoons and 2 service implements.
The Service spoon and knife are gorgeously decorated with floral scrolls and laurel leaves as well as a ribbon tied reed bunch.

The set is originally devised for ice cream, but can be used as a dessert set as well.
The Ice Cream set is in ‘Vermeil’ or gold plated silver and is beautifully preserved, with no dents to the pieces. The silver is 1st title hence the highest denomination for French Silver which is not always the case with gold plated pieces.

There is no wear to the vermeil which is intact. The set is presented in its original box which is gorgeous! The box bears the name of Robert Linzeler and Jules Piault Successeur.
The exterior of the box shows only little wear while the interior is in great condition.
A beautiful set which bears an LH monogram.

Length given above is that of the smaller spoons: the Service spoon is 8.07″, while the ice cream slice is 9.64″ long.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for Robert LINZELER who registered his mark on April 14th 1897.
He inherited the workshop from Jules PIAULT.
He received gold medals at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris for his larger pieces as well as his silverware.
His workshop was located 68 rue de Turbigo in Paris.
