Exquisite Louis XVI Style Ormolu And Marble Cassolettes~Sold~

A Lovely Pair of French Louis XVI Style Gilt bronze ‘Cassolettes’ or Candlesticks with light peach marble.

Standing on a small round marble base, the Cassolettes rise up on goats hooves, each ending with a classical feminine figure.
A central ring holds the legs firm.
The oval light peach marble main vessel is delicately curved and upheld below by a gilded acanthus spoke
The upper part of the main vessel is decorated by a carved Ormolu circle.

The removable lid converts to a candle scone, and is decorated on the lid side by a Grape wreath topped by a blackberry shaped finial, while the other side is carved with acanthus leaves.

The marble is an exquisite color, hovering between very light peach and very light rose.

These lovely Louis XVI Style Cassolettes were in high fashion under Napoleon the Third’s reign.
They can be used to grace a mantelpiece or as candlesticks.
