Gorgeous French Silver Sugar Casket By Debain & Flamant~Sold~

This Gorgeous Antique French Silver Crystal Sugar Casket attributed to Edouard DEBAIN & Louis Frederic FLAMANT.

The silver framework, which holds the dark blue crystal, is cut away to reveal the darker colour enhancing the whole effect and outlining the beautiful carvings.
On each side of the bowl two different flower bouquets are carved out.
The framework shows beautiful and elegant silver arabesques as well as acanthus leaves scrolls.
The vessel rests on four feet outlined by acanthus leaves.

The cover is decorated with a gadroon design and grape leaves and is topped by a bunch of acorns resting on leaves which forms what we call the ‘Frétel’ (or Finial)
The size of the bowl makes it ideal to either be used as a sugar bowl or serve as a condiment bowl, or even to showcase flowers.
The composition is typical of the Napoleon III period.
The cobalt crystal interior is original to the piece and in perfect condition.
It is in superb condition. No chips or dents. Just gorgeous!

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is, we think, for Édouard DEBAIN and Louis Frédéric FLAMANT. It is quite erased but we can just make out the central symbol….
Their Mark shows the two last names in a lozenge form, separated by a small boat or ‘navette’, and was registered in May 1864.
It was cancelled on November 23rd,1874.
