Lovely Antique French Silver Hand Mirror By Limousin & Souche

Antique French Silver Empire Style Hand Mirror by LIMOUSIN & SOUCHE.

This Charming mirror is typical of the Empire Style Inspiration popular under Napoleon the First and revived towards the end of the 1800s.
It freely used symbols from the Greek and the Egyptian Mythology in its decoration.

In the case of our lovely mirror, we have the two beautifully carved Lions holding up the mirror part.

The Handle is decorated with acanthus leaves and floral scrolls.
The mirror itself is surrounded by a laurel leaves wreath.
The mirror is tow sided with one side showing slight age marks, but the other is in perfect condition.

A lovely object practical and beautiful!

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for LIMOUSIN and SOUCHE who registered their mark in 1905.
It shows their two initials separated by an X
Their workshop was located 76 rue des Archives in Paris.
