18th Century French School Ink and blue Gouache Drawing of a Beggar and his Son.
Probably drawing on the biblical story of the wandering Jew relentlessly pursued by misfortune, this drawing is small by masterfully executed.

The main character is shown wearing a cap as well a flowing beard and hunched painfully on a walking stick, while walking barefoot.
He seems to carry all the sadness of the world.
The child is clad in blue pants with high boots, throwing the only element of colour in the drawing. He hides behind the beggar, grasping on to his coat.
The artists used mainly sepia ink and brown wash with a few drops of blue gouache.

The drawing is showcased in a mid 18th century gilt wood frame, the simplicity of which is the perfect medium to highlight the beauty of the drawing.

The Drawing is 7.75 inches high by 4.50 inches wide.
The Frame measures 10.75 inches high by 7.75 inches wide

The Drawing was appraised by the Cabinet de Bayser and purchased in Paris in April 2018.
