A charming Antique French Silver ‘Egoiste’ Coffee Pot by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Martial FRAY, in the typical ‘Restauration’ style.
This lovely Coffee Pot is called ‘Egoïste’ or Selfish in French as it holds roughly 2 Espressos! Hence the connotation of Selfish.
The ‘Restauration’ style takes on a generous turn with ample and curvy forms and lots of flowers and foliage details.
The pot stands on a round base while the spout is duck shaped and completed with a charming foliage decoration.
The Finial, or ‘Frétel’, is in the form of a flower bud, resting on a crown of wine leaves, and grapes.
A line a light gadroons adorn the edge of the lid.
This lovely little guy has K monogram on its side.
The handle is made of Mahogany.
The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000)- 1838 to 1919 – Paris
The Makers Mark is for Martial FRAY which was in registered in 1849 and cancelled in 1861.
It shows the last name in a lozenge with a Star
He was located 22 Rue de Pastourelle in the Marais Part of Paris.
