An Amazing Set of 6 Solid Gilt Silver, or Vermeil, Salt Cellars By Boin Taburet.
These Master Salt Cellars are truly incredible to behold! The Sheer size of them is impressive and the beauty of the work is typical of the boin Taburet House.
The Suite of six gilded silver salt cellars are chiseled and engraved with decoration of crosses as well as garlands of foliage on curling swirls of vermeil. The upper part shows acanthus leaves and crossed ribbons.
The solid silver pieces are coated with 24 carat gold which is in excellent shape.
Each salt cellars has its original crystal insert which is intact.
The weight in silver is amazing topping 1.480 kilograms, or 3.10 pounds….

The Hallmark is Minerva 1 for 1st title silver – Paris 1838 /1919

The Makers Mark is written out BOINTABURET.
The Makers Mark shows a fully marked out BOIN TABURET A PARIS. The mark is for ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ Georges BOIN and Emile TABURET. After individual successful careers they joined forces and registered their joint mark in 1873. They went on to win a gold medal for their beautiful pieces in 1889 during the Paris World Fair.
They worked at 3 Rue Pasquier near the Madeleine Area of Paris.
From 1900 the goldsmith HENRY joined the house and replaced Emile Taburet, the name became “Boin and Henry”, hallmark from 1901 “H Fres” a stool, which also appears on all pieces.
