Antique French Silver Hand Mirror By L Lapar~Sold~

Antique French Silver and Vermeil Empire Style Hand Mirror by Leon LAPAR.
This Charming mirror is typical of the ‘ Retour D’Egypte’ (Back from Napoleon’s Egypt Campaign) Empire Style which was popular under Napoleon the First but also towards the end of the 19th century.

It used freely symbols from Ancient Egypt in its decoration and more particularly winged Gods taken from the Egyptian Mythology.

In the case of our lovely mirror, we have the lovely carved wings spreading on the upper and lower part of the mirror.

The Handle is decorated with a wreath of laurel and oak leaves.
The mirror itself is surrounded by a Raie de Coeur’ or Spokes of hearts wreath.
The 18 carat gold gilt or ‘Vermeil’ is intact.
The reverse side is made of mahogany.

The mirror is in perfect functioning condition!
It comes in its original presentation box, just lovely!

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for Léon LAPAR who registered his mark in 1878 and cancelled it in 1897.
It shows the name of the Maître Orfèvre.
His workshops were located 16 then 25 Rue de Choiseul in Paris.
