Antique French Silver Sugar Tongs by Henri Louis CHENAILLER.

A delicate implement decorated with a simple doted line running around the bow or handle.
The arms attach to the bow by tiny rounded knobs, and the arms are simply etched with light grooves.
The bowls superbly worked into stretched Lion’s paws.

The Hallmark is Minerva 1st Title (950/1000) –1838 -1919– Paris.

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Henri Louis CHENAILLER and shows an H and a C topped by a Rising Sun with a Star below.
His mark was registered on January 3rd 1839 and cancelled on June 11th 1859 when he passed away. He specialized in service sets and larger pieces.
His address was listed as, 277 Rue St Martin in Paris.
