Antique French Vermeil Jardinière and Plateau by Doutre-Roussel

A Lovely Antique French Vermeil or Gilt Silver ‘Jardinière’ or Centre Table on its Ormolu plateau by Maître Orfèvre Claude Doutre Roussel.

The ‘Jardinière’ or Flower center table, if you would, was used in a variety of ways in order to embellish the table, by either setting flowers or fruits or other items that could enhance the set up.
But you can also use it in many other ways: to present sweets, cookies or simply to decorate with a free standing candle in the middle of the table.

This particular piece is rare because of the beautiful 24 carat gold wash applied.
Decorated in the louis XV Style or Rocaille style, it shows foliage scrolls, and acanthus leaves on each side of a medallion, and it rests on 4 scrolled and and pierced feet.

The Jardinière is oval shaped and has a gilt brass interior which comes out to better clean the piece.
The whole piece is gorgeous.

The plateau is decorated with an armolu circle with scrolls and foliage with a mahogany backing and a perfect mirror front.

The measures given above are those of the ensemble. The measures of the Jardinière alone are: 18.11 inches long x 9.25 inches wide and 5.11 inches high.
