Beautiful 18th Century Cherub Pencil Study
This beautiful interpretation of a Cherub or Putto, is directly taken from the design left by Francois BOUCHER.
The chubby angel has an incredible life, infused by a masterful use of Lead Pencil strokes and Grey Wash, which highlight his arms and face.
His little cheeks are all curves and his eye looks full of mirth!
The lovely piece is signed at the left hand side as well as in the back with F Boucher for François BOUCHER, 1703/1770, however this is surely a ‘School of’ Boucher and not the master himself.
It remains an absolutely gorgeous piece.
The Frame is another masterpiece, in Gilt Wood is absolutely lovely! It is fully Louis XVI Era hence second part of the 18th century!.
Truly a gorgeous find.
The Frame measures 19.68 inches by 16.53 inches
The Drawing measures 8.26 inches by 6.29 inches
It was purchased in Paris in March 2018.
