Beautiful Antique French Silver And Crystal Jug by Lapar~Sold~

A Beautiful Antique French Silver and Cut Crystal Jug by Maître Orfèvre Léon LAPAR, a favourite of ours!

In French we call them ‘Carafe’ and this one is particularly imposing and beautifully worked.
It is distinguished by its fine workmanship, elegant form, harmonious proportions and its beautiful decoration.

The theme is definitely Rocaille or Louis XV, with the upper body worked in a combed waves design which fully circles it.
The handle mirrors an intricate scroll of acanthus leaves which widen at the bottom to hold the crystal body.
The spout is ducked shaped and shares the same combed waves design already used, while the finial showcases an acanthus knob.
The piece is lightly gold washed.

The crystal itself is slightly twisted and wheel cut at the same time giving it a lovely flowing movement.
The bottom is wheel cut into a star shape

It is intact, no losses to the silver and no marks on the crystal –just beautiful!
It is ideal to serve either Mint Julep or to set water on your Christmas table!
But it can also hold Orange Juice or Lemonade.

The Hallmark is Minerva 1-1st title (950/1000) – 1838 -1919– Paris
