Beautiful Antique Silver Condiment Set By E Roussel Doutre~Sold~

A Beautiful Antique French Silver and Crystal Condiment Set by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Eugène ROUSSEL DOUTRE.

This rare set includes a lovely Oil and Vinegar Cruet and two salt cellars in a very orate 3rd Empire style.
The Oil and Vinegar Cruet is complete of its two original hand blown crystal inserts with their delicate crystal stoppers.
The crystal is in blue overlay.

The lower body of the cruet is decorated with acanthus and wine leaves as well as with a central rose bouquet.
The Main handle has a Minerva head as the central finial.
The two salt cellars show the same impressive décor on a smaller scale.
The insert are again blue crystal, and hand blown.

The pieces are in perfect shape!
No losses, no marks and no dents! A miracle for the delicate crystal inserts!

The Oil and vinegar cruet stands at 9.84 inches high and 8.26 inches width.
The Salt cellars are each 1.96inches high and 2.75 inches wide.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for Eugène ROUSSEL DOUTRE who registered his mark on March 3rd 1849, and 5 more times over the years (1854, 1861, 1862, 1863); the mark was cancelled on June 6th 1865.
He first started at 6 rue Sainte Avoye in Paris then moved to 10 Rue Braque.
He was the founder of the very impressive Silversmiths dynasty of the ROUSSEL DOUTRE which lasted until 1969.
