Beautiful Antique Silver Pepper Mill By Cardeilhac~Sold~

A Beautiful Antique French Silver Pepper Mill or Grinder by the House of Cardeilhac

Quite rare to come by, this striking Pepper Mill is worked entirely in an extremely delicate ‘Guilloche’ style, with a medallion in the center of its baluster shaped body, showing the a monogram with C S M.
The ‘guillochage’ is so delicate and precise that we can easily say that we have rarely come across such a fine representation.
The Tip of the silver winder is made of carved ivory.
The bottom of the pepper mill twists off to make it easier to clean. While the upper register opens up to enable one to put the peppercorns.

It is in beautiful condition, just gorgeous!
We cannot give a precise silver weight simply because the interior mechanism is made of steel and irremovable.

After his death his widow took over until his sons were of age. In 1951 the House of Cardeilhac was bought by Christofle.
