Beautiful Antique Vermeil Sugar Sifter ~Sold~

A delicate and heavy Gilded or ‘Vermeil’ Antique French Silver Sugar Sifter dating back to the 1er Coq Hallmark-Hence 1798 to 1809.

The bowl of the spoon is in a beautiful ‘reperce’ motiv showing a gorgeous weaved flower basket cut out.

The work on the basket design itself is extremely delicate and very well rendered. The other particularity is the oval form, which is not often found in Sugar Sifters.
The handle bears a monogram showing an M and an L. The work is extremely refined and the piece is in gorgeous condition. ‘The Vermeil’ is intact.
The piece is absolutely beautiful.Lovely to use to sprinkle sugar over freshly cut fruits!

The width given above is that of the spoon itself.

The Main Hallmark is 1er Coq -2nd title – Hence 1798 -1809 – Paris. The second title marks it as having a 800/1000 silver content instead of the 950/1000. In the 1er Coq it is outlined by the fact that the Standing Rooster is facing left.
Then we have the Guarantee which is very clear.

The Makers Mark is hard to decipher-we are still working on it- It shows a B in a vertical lozenge form, but the bottom part is not readable at this time. We are continuing research on the Maker and we will post the result as soon as we do have it.
