Beautiful Set of 12 French Gilt Silver Plates by Odiot

An Absolutely gorgeous Set of 12 French Gilt Solid Silver Plates by famed Maître Orfèvre Odiot.

Decorated in the Regency Style they are chiseled with a a frieze of Gadroons on the sides.
The center shows a geometric design flanked on each corner by a stylized flower.
The center is decorated with an LL monogram also known as a ‘mavelot’ or cypher.

Each plate is very heavy and the Vermeil, or 24 carat gold layer on silver, is intact.
The workmanship is superb.

They can be used as starter chargers or are dessert plates or chargers, or to serve appetizers or petits fours.
The weight of silver is impressive standing at 6.14 lbs.

The Hallmark is Minerva 1 – 1st Title Silver (950/1000) for Paris 1838/1919.

The Makers Mark shows the Famous O for the House of Odiot with the antique lamp underneath.
It however shows also the letters BS which means the pieces date to the time Odiot took over another Maker, Boulanger, in early 1906.
Today the House of ODIOT still stands at 7, rue Royale in Paris.
