Beautiful Silver And Vermeil Salad Serving Set By Tallois~Sold~

A Lovely Antique French Silver and Vermeil Salad Serving Set or Serving Implements by Maître Orfèvre Paul TALLOIS.

The bowl and tines are gold (18 carat) plated silver, while the handles are in silver.
That detail makes them rather rare; as usually salad service sets had either carved horn or ivory tines and bowl.
The handles are beautifully worked in the Louis XVI style with a delicately carved acanthus leaves and tulip chutes of the upper and lower body.
The handles are linked to the tines and bowl by a Vermeil line decorated with acanthus leaves which fan out on both the upper parts.
Both handles show a monogram marked LB.

All is all, a lovely piece very different then what we are used to seeing around! The work is exquisite!
An absolutely gorgeous set which balance perfectly in the hand!

The width given above is taken at largest part of the bowl.
