Charming Antique French Silver and Crystal Vase By C Barrier

A Charming Antique French Silver and Crystal Vase by Maitre Orfèvre Charles BARRIER.

This beautiful piece is perfectly balanced, with the crystal and the silver details complementing each other and making for a charming piece in the Louis XV style.

The Crystal,is heavy and finely wheel cut to flat ridges along the sides of the vase which is shaped in a tapering Baluster form.
The crystal is delicately worked with intaglio details showcxasing flower bouquets and flowing ribbons circling the main body of the vase.

The pedestal has its round base carved with a laurel leaf wreath.

The Crystal is intact and the silver décor is in excellent shape with no losses to its carved details.

A lovely piece to showcase roses or peonies on your table or mantle!

It reminds me closely of the fine products that were heralded by the ‘L’Escalier de Cristal’ store which stood close to the Palais Royal area in Paris in 1804 and proposed their beautiful finds up to 1923.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919– Paris

The Makers Mark is for Maitre Orfèvre Charles BARRIER and shows a C and a B separated by a Gaiter topped by a Star.
The mark was registered in 1905 in Paris, and was cancelled in 1923.
