Charming Antique French Silver ‘Bouillon’ or Covered Cup by Maitre Orfevre LN NAUDIN

This Louis XVI Style Antique French Silver Covered Cup, rests on a round ‘Piédouche’ or Pedestal with a laurel leaf design surrounding its edge.
The Rim of the bouillon has a Laurel leaf motif which extends out beneath the lid when the cup is covered. The edges of the lid have a dainty pearl design.
The top of the lid (or Frétel or again Finial) features a acanthus leaves wreath, resting on a circle of delicately carved laurel leaves.

The handles consist in two Atlante or Masculine figures holding a floral scroll from which emerges a Cornucopia filled with fruits.
The cornucopia being the symbol of prosperity and preservation of love we may be in front of an intended wedding gift.

The plate on which the Bouillon rests shows the same decor of laurel leaves.

This is a lovely piece which can be used in a variety of ways, originally used to hold a “Bouillon” or ‘consommé’ it can either be used to present condiments, or gravy, or fruits or as a sugar casket or to offer sweets at the end of a meal.
The width given above is taken at the handles. The presentation plate is 7.87 inches wide.
The piece is in very good condition with only 2 slight chocks on one handle

The Hallmark is Michael Angelo (Poinçon au Vieillard )-1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1819 to 1838– Paris

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ LN NAUDIN (Fils) who registered his mark in 1812, and shows his initials
His workshop was located 24 place de Thionville in Paris.
