Charming Antique French Silver Mustard Pot By Beaufort~Sold~

Charming Antique French Silver and Crystal Mustard Pot or ‘Moutardier’ in the ‘Louis XV’ Style, by Maitre Orfèvre Albert BEAUFORT.

The insert is simple white crystal, and is original to the piece.
The silver framework, which holds the crystal insert, is decorated in the Rocaille style, showing ‘Côtes Torses or twisted ribs, ending in delicate combed waves.
The body of the pot rests on three little feet decorated with floral scrolls.
The handle is composed of a floral design.
The lid is decorated with large twisted gadroons and is topped by a rounded finial in the shape of a spinning top.

The whole piece is in superb condition, no scratches or marks.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 -1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for Albert BEAUFORT and shows an A and a B separated by a cross with two stars.
His mark was registered on September 1886. His offices were located 198 Rue St Martin in Paris.
