Charming Antique French Silver Selfish Coffee Pot By Lapar~Sold~

A Charming Antique French Silver Selfish Coffee Pot by Leon LAPAR.

This coffee pot is called ‘Egoïste’ in French (or Selfish in English) as it holds roughly 2 Espressos or 1 larger coffee but no more! Hence the connotation of Selfish!
It is really adorable and the work on it is exquisite in the Louis XV style of ‘Rocaille’.

The handle is in Mahogany, and the pot rests on 3 clawed feet.
The body is worked into a twisted swirling pattern with ‘Rocaille’ detailing and a light combed wave (Vague Peignée in French) effect on the bottom part of the pot.
The same twisted swirling design is used on the dome shaped lid with the same wave pattern enhancing the edge.
The Spout is in a lovely duck bill shape and has a gorgeous seashell design etched at its base.
The Finial, or ‘Frétel’, is in the shape of a Raspberry resting on a crown of leaves

The Coffee Pot is in perfect shape!! Just gorgeous.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris
