Charming Antique Silver Bonbons Service Set By CD Roussel

Charming Antique French Silver ‘Bonbons’ Service Set by Claude DOUTRE ROUSSEL.

Though called a Bonbon Service Set, they were more considered as dessert service sets and could come with several different implements.
They became one of the gifts of preference for a wedding and were rarely composed of more then 4 pieces.
One could choose between different implements on offer ranging from several types of spoons to sugar tongs and pie or candy servers.

Our lovely set shows a style very popular towards the end on the 19th century, the ‘Japonisant’ Style, inspired by the Asian arts and most particularly by the Japanese paintings.

Starting by looking at the full picture of the implement (1st picture) on the left hand side we have a Fondant ladle (5.90 inches long)
The second implement is a Cherry or candied fruit fork (5.31 inches long)
Sugar tongs are found next. (5.19 inches long).
The last implement is a cream spoon (5.23 inches long)

Each elements is decorated with flying birds and cherry branches. The details are highlighted in 18 carat gold to add another dimension to the décor.

All pieces are in great state! No marks or losses to the silver.
They come in their original display box, which is in good shape.

The Hallmark is Minerva 1-1st title – 1838 -1911 – Paris
