Charming Antique Silver Dessert Serving Set ~Sold~

A Charming Antique French Silver Dessert Service Set with delicately carved out details on the spoon and blade.
The spoon body and the blade are plated metal, while the handle is in silver worked in a high relief motif.

The carving on the blade and the spoon are Japanese Style inspired and depict rose flowers as well as clematis flowers intertwined etched out of the main body using acid.
This kind of décor became quite the rage in the second half of the 1800s, due to the craze for all things Asian and Japanese in particular.
The remainder of the spoon and blade are carved with an openwork design showcasing delicate floral scrolls.

The handles are beautifully worked with high reliefs depicting lovely floral scrolls in the neoclassical style.They also feature a ‘Grotesque’ Mask on the upper register.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

We could unfortunately not identify the Makers Mark due to age wear, and also the fact that on one of the pieces it was covered by the Minerva Hallmark.
