Charming pair of Vintage French Silver Grape Shears by ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ Maison Eschwège.
A very fashionable item during the reign of Napoleon III, the grape scissors were ‘The’ item to have when presenting guests with fruits during the meals.
This pair is charmingly worked with two cherubs harvesting grapes, carved with lovely details.
This lovely find is in perfect condition.
The Shears, also in silver are very well preserved, and work perfectly!
The Hallmark is ‘Minerve’ 1 -1st title (950/1000) 1838 -1919– Paris
The Makers’ Mark is for Maison ESCHWEGE and show an Mon and a E separated by a diamond shape.
The Mark was registered in 1946 and closed shortly after.
They held shop at 42 rue Meslay in Paris.
