Charming Louis XVI Style Ormolu And Pink Marble Table Clock

Charming Antique Louis XVI Style Ormolu and Pink Marble Table Clock dating back to Napoleon III.

While dating back to the Second Empire, this charming piece checks all the marks for Louis the 16th Style.

The lovely pink marble pedestal is decorated by gilt bronze floral scroll on 4 sides and rests on 4 gilt bronze spinning top shaped feet.

The lovely patinated bronze putto is standing on clouds and holding a medal that is a copy of the Coin commemorating Louis the fourteenth wedding to Marie-Thérèse Charlotte of France.
It reads surrounding the portrait of the Queen: MAR THER D G FR ET NAV REG.
Which translates to : ‘Marie-Thérèse, by the grace of God, queen of the Franks and Navarre’.

The Putto is represented with the Attributes of War (a spade, a bow and quiver, a helmet and a torch) highlighting the Sun King’s many successful battles.
The gilt bronze is in very good condition.
The putto is beautifully executed.
The clock has a lovely enamel front decorated with rose garlands.

The clock is in perfect shape! It is in working order and rewinds by hand, and is perfectly on time.
A lovely piece!
