Charming Pair Of Gilt Bronze Dolphin Decorated Trays

A very Lovely Pair Of Dolphin Decorated Gilt Bronze ‘Vide Poches’!

The beautifully chiseled Dolphins are pictured in the typical Louis XVI Style with their raised tails doubling up as handles.
The Dolphins heads rest on large seashells that serve as trays.
The works is exquisite, and the gilding quite beautiful.

Called ‘Vides Poches’ in French (literally ’empty your pockets’) they were usually laid out in the entrance of the house or in a sitting room and were used to deposit coins, glasses or other small items.
