Charming Pair Of Silver Empire ‘Jardinières’ By Boulanger~Sold~

Charming Pair of French Antique Silver Empire ‘Jardinières’ by Jean Nicolas BOULANGER.

The ‘Jardinière’ or centre table, if you would rather, was used in a variety of ways in order to embellish the table, by either setting flowers or fruits or other items that could enhance the set up. I use mine during dinners with Peonies or Cala Lilies or Thistle as shown on the photos and the effect is incredible.
But you can use it in many other ways: to present fruits of course, or sweets, to present caviar, or simply to decorate with a free standing candle in the middle of the table.

It is quite rare to come across a pair!
These 2 pieces show an elegant geometrical cut out design topped by floral motifs on the gallery which holds the clear blown glass insert.

The middle of the piece has a shield shaped medallion and only waits to have your initials engraved! The handles are geometrical in design and engraved with leaves. The body rests on 4 fluted feet.
The style is typically Empire, very simple and very elegant.
They will compliment your table set up perfectly!

The clear blown glass inserts are in good condition with no chips or scratches. While not the normal kind of insert for jardinière who tended more to have crystal ones, they match the delicateness of the two pieces.. The silver gallery is in perfect condition.

The height given above is that of the complete piece, taken at the height of the two handles.
