Charming Set Of 4 French Silver Salt & Pepper Cellars~Sold~

A Charming Set of Four Antique French Silver Salt and Pepper Cellars in the Louis XIV style.

The fact we actually have two cellars on each one, indicates that they would have been probably used for Salt and Pepper.

The two linked condiment cellars show two oval terraces holding two cup shaped cellars. The Cellars are 18 carat gilded inside and are beautifully ‘guilloché’ on the outside. They are linked by a central handle that is decorated with a flowing ribbon and an acorn.
The terraces are beautifully decorated with laurel and wine leaves on two sides and on the edges with acanthus leaves. The two main sides show a medallion bearing a VI Monogram.
The guillochage on the terrace is exquisite!
The terrace rests on four acanthus leaves feet.

The 4 set is truly lovely, a perfect enhancement for a sophisticated dinner table.
