Charming set of Antique French Silver and Crystal Salt Cellars by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Charles BARRIER.

These lovely French Silver open salt caddies or cellars are extremely light and delicate.
They consist of a cut white Crystal body circled by a Silver Rim decorated with a geometric fringe.
The Crystal is St Louis and beautifully worked.

Four dainty spoons complete the set, decorated with a silver cut out water lily leaves and featuring the same leaf for the bowl.

The weight given above is the full weight of the set as the silver circling is not removable from the crystal part.
The spoon’s weight is 0.50 oz and are 2.76 inches long.
The measures given above are that of the salt cellars.

The Set comes in its original presentation box from the Artault House of Joaillerie in Moulins.

The Hallmark is Minerve -1st title (950/1000) – 1838 -1919 -Paris

The Makers Mark is for Maitre Orfèvre Charles BARRIER and shows an C and a B separated by a Gaiter topped by a Star.
The mark was registered in 1905 in Paris.
His workshop was located 7 rue Reaumur and it seems he took over the offices of Edouard Ernie, who also had the same symbol on his Mark and shared the same offices.
