A charming Antique French Silver and Crystal butter dish by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Charles BARRIER

The piece outlines the refinement the table attained in the mid to late 1800s and very early 1900s.
The Crystal is charmingly worked into a slightly dipping plate and is cut with floral and geometric designs. The edges of the dish are circled in silver, and lined with silver pearls.

The Crystal butter dish itself is attached to the presentation dish.

The cover of the dish is in crystal and the Finial or ‘Fretel’ is in solid silver silver and represents an acorn resting on a crown of acanthus leaves.

This lovely butter dish can be also be used to serve caviar, or even marmelade!
It comes in its original presentation box which is in fine condition.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for Maitre Orfèvre Charles BARRIER and shows a C and a B separated by a Gaiter topped by a Star.
The mark was registered in 1905 in Paris, and was cancelled in 1923.
