Charming Silver And Crystal Drageoir by Dupezard ~Sold~

An absolutely Charming Antique French Silver And Crystal ‘Drageoir’ by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ SJ DUPEZARD.
In France we call them ‘Drageoir’ or ‘Confiturier’, but the only official name is a ‘Confiturier’ (Hence a Jam container), and it turns out that originally they were only thought of, and used, as Ceremonial Sugar Bowls.

The Details are amazing!
The Scene is taken from the greek register and symbolizes mariage and love.
The central register shows 4 designs – 2 of each kind. The main one is a dancing couple dressed in ancient greek clothing, while holding hands. The draping of the cloth is just exquisite!
The sides are decorated by Floral scrolls, curving delicately around the handles designs, with acanthus details and rosettes.

The very upper register is delicately carved with a geometrical floral lace wreath, while the lower body register shows a cut out of clover leaves.
The upper level of the main silver bowl is lined with a gorgeous laurel leaf wreath.
The lid is decorated by a garland of acanthus leaves and little rosettes, while the Frétel (or Finial) reprises the form of a charming wreath of acanthus leaves and rosettes flowers.
The handles are the highlight of the piece, with charming Winged Cupids resting on an acanthus leaf seat, while holding a bowl full of fruits.
The square pedestal rests on four lion’s paws. The upper level of the pedestal terrace is lined with a delicate Laurel leaf wreath.

The bowl insert is white crystal in perfect condition.
It is an absolutely gorgeous work of art!
