Delicate Antique French Silver ‘Hors D’œuvres’ Service Set by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Alexandre SCHORTGEN
The Hors D’œuvre Service Sets were usually sold separately from the ‘Ménagère’ and tailored to order.
One could choose between different implements on offer, ranging from several types of olive and gherkin spoons to pate slice or servers, butter knives and sardine forks.
This charming set is in the Louis XV Style with soft acanthus leaves and laurel garlands as well mistletoe decorating the handles.
The work on the spoons, tines and blades of all four pieces is absolutely lovely with acanthus leaves and mistletoe delicately cut out.
