Charming Silver Toast Rack By Risler & Vachette ~Sold~

A lovely Antique French Silver Toast Rack in Louis XV style by Maitres Orfèvres RISLER and VACHETTE.

One of those little finds that make you smile! As toast were not really common in the 1800 in France, my guess is this was probably created more for the American or English residents. But not for export since there is no exportation tax mark.

It is beautifully carved with a delicate laurel garland an all sides. The four feet are done in an acanthus design. The front and back show  an intricate panel, with a large acanthus group of leaves in the center surrounded by a laurel wreath and by delicate ribbons. The finial is very nicely carved into a laurel wreath.
The rack can hold up to 6 pieces of toast! Truly lovely! It is in perfect condition.
The height given above is taken at the Finial.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for RISLER and VACHETTE. The Mark shows an R and a V topped by a star, and with 1 dot underneath the letters. RISLER and VACHETTE, took over from RISLER and CARRE in 1900.
