Classical Pair of Silver Wine Coasters By LG Leroy and Jules Piault

A lovely Pair of Antique French Silver Wine bottle coasters by Louis-Gustave Leroy, also stamped by Jules Piault.

The center of each coaster is chased with large gadroons, while the edge is decorated with two men’s heads (grotesques) and two medallions applied with the owners’ monogram which reads AM.
Beautifully worked and quite heavy they are also very large hence can accommodate a larger bottle of wine or champagne.
The exact same model but bearing the coat of arms of the Duke of Montebello was sold by Sotheby’s in November 2013.

The Hallmark is Minerva 1 for 1st title Silver (950/1000) – Paris 1838/1919
