Dainty Pair of Silver Eggcups And Spoons By V Boivin

A Rare and Lovely Set of Antique French Silver and Vermeil Eggcups and their matching spoons by Maître Orfèvre Victor BOIVIN.

The two eggcups are decorated with a delicate acanthus leaves wreath and tulips chutes, with the centre part bearing a medallion with a monogram spelling PB. The medallion is set to resemble a little note and has a butterfly flying over it.
The cups rest on little round ‘piedouche’ or pedestals imitating wine glasses.
The two spoons are delicately decorated with the same acanthus leaves design.
The inside of the eggcups as well as the bowl of the spoons is lined with 18 carat gold.
The presentation box is in great condition as well.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000)- 1838 to 1919– Paris

The Makers Mark is for Victor BOIVIN. It shows a V and a B with a crescent and two stars.
His first Mark was registered on February 1881 soon after his father left the trade, his second mark was registered in 1897. His shop was located first at 5 Rue de Montmorency in Paris.
The BOIVIN received several medals for their work during the 1867 and 1889 Universal Fairs in Paris.
