A delicate and heavy Gilded or ‘Vermeil’ Antique French Silver Sugar Sifter Spoon by AUCOC Veuve (The widow of André AUCOC)

The bowl of the spoon is in beautiful ‘reperce’ motif showing a Rose Window cut out.
The spoon bowl links to the handle by a beautiful acanthus leaf design, while the lenth of the handle is worked with delicate tulip chutes and rosettes.
The handle bears a monogram showing a Coat of Arm topped by a helmet.

The work is extremely refined and the piece is in gorgeous condition. ‘The Vermeil’ is intact.
It is just a perfect design.
Lovely to use to sprinkle sugar over fresh strawberries per example!

The piece is absolutely gorgeous. It comes in its original presentation box which is in very good condition.

The Main Hallmark is Minerva 1 -1st title (950/1000)- Hence 1838-1919 – Paris.

The Makers Mark is for Andre AUCOC’s widow who took over the company after her husband passed away. Andre AUCOC had registered his mark (which showed a rooster above 2 A’s) in 1887 and his widow cancelled it in 1911. When she took over from her husband she was able to keep the mark while adding a tiny vv under her husband original mark.
Andre AUCOC was the successor of a long line of ‘Maitre Orfèvres’ dating back to 1821 under the guidance of Casimir AUCOC.The House of AUCOC received many medals over the years and in 1900 was the Laureate prize winner of the Universal Fair in Paris.
