A Delicate Antique French Silver and Crystal butter dish by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Henri LAPEYRE.

The piece outlines the refinement the table attained in the mid to late 1800s.
The Crystal is beautifully worked into a slightly dipping plate and is cut with floral designs and Laurel garlands. The edges of the dish are circled in silver, delicately carved with floral scrolls, ending on the edge by a row of silver pearls.

The Crystal butter dish itself is separate from of the presentation plate.
The cover of the dish is in crystal and worked with floral garlands cut into the crystal. The Finial or ‘Fretel’ is in solid silver silver and represents a blackberry, resting on a crown of acanthus leaves.

This lovely butter dish can be also be used to serve jam or marmalade.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for Henri LAPEYRE who registered his mark on November 19th 1895.
It shows an H and an L, separated by a spoon between two crescents.
His workshop was located 49 Rue Meslay in Paris
