Delicate Antique French Silver and Crystal Fruit Presentations Bowls or ‘Compotiers’ by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Louis GARNIER.
The body of the ‘Compotiers’ are made of heavy wheel cut in diamond shapes crystal, circled on the upper rim by a beautiful gilded silver band, decorated with a ribbon tied laurel leaf wreath.
The bowls rests on a ‘Piédouche’ or pedestal in Gilded (18 carat gold) French silver showing the same décor as the upper rim.
The crystal is worked in the Intaglio style with flower garlands etched in its depth.
There is a very tiny difference in heights between the pair.
They can be used in a myriad way, from Fruit presentation to Cupcakes or Cake presentation.
They can even be used for a flower presentation.
They are both are in excellent condition! No chips or damages to the crystal or the silver.
The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris
The Maker’s Mark is for Maitre Orfèvre Louis GARNIER
His Mark shows an L and a G with a ‘catkin’ separating them. The Mark was registered in 1903
