Elegant Antique French Silver Coffee Pot By Fray Fils

An Elegant Antique French Silver Selfish Coffee Pot by FRAY & Fils in the refined Regency style.

This coffee pot is called ‘Egoïste’ in French as it holds roughly 3 Espressos or 2 larger coffees but no more! Hence the connotation of Selfish!

The work on this piece is the perfect transcription of the expression ‘Less is More’
The Coffee pot is beautifully polished and baluster shaped, with a charming clean cut duck bill for a spout.
It stands on three little feet which are actually goat hoofs.
The lid is rounded and topped by a spinning top.
The handle is in carved mahogany, which can be removed for cleaning.

The centre of the pot is decorated with a ‘high relief’ monogram featuring the letters J B C.
The beauty lies in the lovely, rounded balance, and the perfect size of the piece.
No dents – no marks – just perfection.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000)- 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for FRAY Fils who registered his mark on January 4th 1875 and cancelled it on April 1st 1891.
