Elegant Antique French Silver Jardinière By G Keller

Elegant Antique French Silver ‘Jardinière’ or Centre Table, by ‘Maitre Orfevre’ Gustave KELLER

The ‘Jardinière’ or Flower centre table, if you would, was used in a variety of ways in order to embellish the table, by either setting flowers or fruits or other items that could enhance the set up.
But you can also use it in many other ways: to present sweets, cookies or simply to decorate with a free standing candle in the middle of the table.

This particular piece shows a simple and elegant cut out work on the gallery which holds the shiny plated silver insert.
The simplicity of the work, along with its perfect balance was the hallmark of Gustave KELLER who in marked contrast and absolutely exceptional in contemporary Parisian silverwork of this period, opted for a streamlined work in many of his pieces as would his firm in the years to follow, which would result in 1867 and 1878 in gold medals attributed to the company.

The Jardinière is oval shaped and has a silver plated interior which comes out to better clean the piece.
The piece is lovely and enhances even the most modern of interior.
The silver gallery is in perfect condition without any losses or dents to it! A perfect way to ‘sign’ your dinner table!

The Makers Mark is for Gustave KELLER and was registered in 1856.
Starting 1887 the company became ‘KELLER Freres’ and continued after that under the monikers ‘KELLER Fils & Gendre Successeur’
