Elegant Antique Silver And Crystal Butter Dish By Gouffe~Sold~

An Elegant and Delicate Antique French Silver and Crystal Butter Dish by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Émile GOUFFE.

This piece outlines the refinement the table attained in the late 1800s.
This butter dish is one of the most lovely we have found yet! Contrary to many others, the plate on which the main dish rests, is not made of crystal, but of solid silver!
The crystal dish is beautifully wheel cut in a wave formation of the sides. The plate on which it rests is decorated with a ‘Raie de Coeur’ or ‘Spokes Of Heart’ garland circling the edges. This is more easily refered to as laurel leaves…

The cover is solid silver as well and shows the same decor on the edges, while the finial is in the shape of a tiny palm tree!
The underside is gilded with 18 carat gold.

The crystal part is absolutely intact, as are the silver parts, the piece is in perfect condition.
This lovely butter dish can be also be used to serve caviar, or even marmelade!

The width of the crystal dish is 4.3 inches.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris
