Elegant Antique Silver Pair of Wine Coasters By Pelpel~Sold~

Elegant Antique French Silver Wine Coasters by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Jean Pierre PELPEL.

This beautiful Pair of Wine Coasters are extremely elegant with their pure design and simple lines.
They both feature a centered Monogram with the letters JB on their solid silver base.
The raised sides are hand pierced with a lovely geometric design, while the rim is decorated with a frieze of leaves imitating the spokes of heart or ‘Raie de Coeur’ in French.

They are very heavy and beautifully balanced.
A lovely way of displaying a nice bottle of wine on your table!

The Hallmark is 1er Coq (1st Rooster)-1st title (950/1000) for Paris 1798 – 1809

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Jean Pierre PELPEL and features his initials surrounding two crossed shovels (the two shovels are a play of words on his last name since Shovel in France is ‘Pelle’).
His mark was registered on April 1809 – Hence we can date this charming Pair of Coasters to precisely 1809!
His workshop was located 4 Rue des Enfants Rouges in Paris.
