This charming set is worked with great delicacy and taste.
The Baskets are almond shaped with the upper register of the silver body showcasing a delicate silver pearl design, while the lower register displays sharp geometric cut outs.. The pieces are perfectly balanced.
They are lovely, simple yet refined, and easy to use.
You can use them to display bread of course, but also Danishes or muffins, or even to hold pistachio or peanuts during the cocktail hour.
They are really lovely and very rare to come by….
The Hallmark is Minerve -1st title (950/1000) – 1838 -1911 –Paris
The Makers Mark is for Maria REMY (indeed a woman ‘Maître Orfèvre’who does not seems to have inherited the business from her husband, but instead to have struck out of her own) and shows an M and an R separated by a pitcher.
Her mark was registered on September 15th 1894. Her shop was located 13 Rue Thévenot in Paris.
