Elegant Empire Style Silver Butter Dish By Slisonski~Sold~

Elegant Antique French Silver Empire Style Butter Dish By ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Simon SLISONSKI

This piece outlines the refinement the table attained in the mid to late 1800s. The Butter dish consists of a silver body worked with a silver pear line and ‘vignettes’ showcasing beautifully depicted Chimeras or Mythical figures with lions’s heads and winged dragon bodies.
The silver body protects a lovely crystal insert with a wheel cut star at the bottom.

The lid of the dish is very pure, topped by a finial in the form of an olive, and a spokes of hart garland decorating the middle.
The silver ‘Présentoir’, or display dish, on which the butter dish is resting, is simply decorated with the same silver lined wreath as the edge of the lid.

Though originally intended for butter, you can use it for many other things, including Jam.

The dimensions given above are for the Butter dish itself. The presentation dish is 6.29 inches in diameter.
