Elegant Directory Style Silver Coffee Pot

A Beautiful French Antique Silver Coffee Pot or “Verseuse” in the very pure and elegant ‘Directory Style’.

The style of this coffee pot was very close to the one used under the following period known as ‘Empire’.
The design is extremely pure with the ebony handle fitting perfectly and giving a very clean line.
The Spout is lovely showcasing a ‘zoomorphic’ design representing a camel’s head. The bottom part of the spout is worked with an acanthus leaf design.
The Finial, or ‘Frétel’, is in the form of a nut, while the edges of the lid are carved with a light gadroon design reproduced as well on the body of the pot.
The coffee pot rests on three feet extending in lion’s paws. The feet connect with the body of the pot with a lovely Palmetto design.

The Finial shows restoration work but it does not harm the piece. There is also a very light dent on one of the legs but again it does not harm the piece – You can have an idea with the pictures.

The Hallmark is Poinçon Vieillard (or Michael Ange) 1 -1st title – Hence 1819 to 1838 – Paris

The Makers Mark is unfortunately unreadable due to normal wear.
