An Elegant Antique French Silver Large chocolate Pot by Charles Tirbour.
The work on this piece is the perfect transcription of the expression ‘Less is More’
The chocolate pot is beautifully polished and baluster shaped, with a charming clean cut duck bill for a spout.
It stands on three little feet which are actually lions paws.
The lid is rounded and topped by a swiveling silver piece with a spinning top finial, which turns to accommodate the original mahogany stirrer .
The handle is in carved mahogany, which can be removed for cleaning.
The beauty lies in the lovely, rounded balance, and the perfect size of the piece!
Quite generous in size it can hold up to 3 cups of chocolate.
The Hallmark is Minerva 1 for 1st title Silver (950/1000) 1838-1919 – Paris.
The Makers Mark is for Charles Tirbour who registered his mark on January 8th 1897.
