Elegant Antique French Silver and Mother of pearl 24 pieces Dessert Flatware Service by ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ HENIN.

This set is absolutely beautiful, with elegant silver work in a geometric design and lovely mother of pearl handles!
The set is decorated with Antique Silver ‘viroles’ (or Ferrules or Collars) as well as Silver‘Boutons’or caps, very delicately rendered.
The blades and tines, as well as the center of the handles, are also is solid French Silver giving to each piece a nice weight.
All bear both the Minerva 1 Hallmark as well as the Makers Mark.

The style is gorgeous, delicate but extremely elegant, and can compliment any lovely table!
There are 12 forks and 12 knives. The set is originally devised for dessert service, but can also be used for appetizers or even cheese service.
It is presented in its original box which is in good condition.
The forks and knives are in perfect condition with no losses to the Mother of Pearl handles or the silver, really impeccable!

The forks are 6.2 inches long.
The knives are 6.7 inches long.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for HENIN & Compagnie. It shows an H the sign & and a C topped by a branch and a star underneath the letters.
The Mark was registered on May 11th 1875. Their shop was located at 33 Rue Des Archives in the Marais area of Paris.

Henin & Compagnie were the successors of Thomas & Henin which first started in 1865. They were followed by Henin Freres which registered their mark by August 1865 and cancelled it in August 1872. In turn they were followed by Henin & Fils which finally gave way to Henin & Compagnie in 1875.
Henin & Compagnie were in turn followed by Henin & Vivier in 1891.
In 1933 the dynasty gave way to the House of Henin.
