Elegant Silver Incense Burner By Limousin & Souche~Sold~

An Elegant and Rare Antique French Silver Incense Burner, in the distinctive Louis XVI Style by ‘Maitres Orfèvres’ LIMOUSIN & SOUCHE.

This is only the second time we have come upon a Solid Silver Perfume or Incense burner.

This lovely piece stands on a Tripod ending with rams hoofs.
The tripod is tied to the basin by beautifully rendered ram’s head which end each leg.
The basin itself is sculpted with a reed wreath tied with ribbons.

The lid is pierced with delicate floral garlands, allowing the perfume or incense to sift through..
The finial is shaped as a flame.

A silver circle houses the removable burner which is also in silver and which opens, so one can fill it with oil.It shows the same ribbon tied reed wreath as appears on the basin.

The piece is very elegant and in excellent shape.
