Empire Style Gilt Silver And Crystal Ice Bucket By P Canaux

A Lovely Antique French Gilt Silver and Cut Crystal Ice Bucket by Maître Orfèvre Paul Canaux and Cie.

It is distinguished by its lovely workmanship, elegant form, harmonious proportions and its beautiful decoration.
The crystal itself is beautifully wheel cut into geometric forms.

The upper part is lined with an Empire inspired wreath showing a band of Swans with floral scrolls and rosettes and equipped with an elegant handle completely decorated with rosettes and ‘raie de coeur’.
The Bucket also has a removable round gilt silver grid to keep the Ice cubes from the water.

The Hallmark is Minerva 1-1st title (950/1000) – 1838 -1919– Paris

The Makers Mark is for Maître Orfèvre Paul Canaux and Cie.
It shows a P and a C with & Cie next to them with an anvil underneath.
They registered their Mark in 1892, and had their workshop at 30 boulevard Malesherbes in Paris.
